Microsoft Safety Scanner is provided under a freeware license on Windows from the antivirus category with no restrictions on usage. Microsoft Security Scanner does not provide real-time protection as more mature and expensive antivirus solutions do. Note: These downloads are valid for around 10 days after their release at which point you should download the new version. It does this by putting these malicious files into what is known as "Quarantine", becoming neutralized. Microsoft Security Scanner will attempt to neutralize and reverse changes made by the malware it finds. Each scan will check the specified areas of the system for known malware infections. The program is not advanced and only includes three different scanning options: A full system scan, a quick scan or a scan of a particular folder. Microsoft Safety Scanner is a malware removal application which is updated very often by the security folks at Microsoft.
